Dal 2008 Prepotto ha ottenuto la sottozona Doc Schioppettino di Prepotto, unica sottozona in Friuli a tutelare un unico vitigno a bacca rossa.. The Association of Producers of Schioppettino of Prepotto was born to protect and give honour to the variety Schioppettino, produced from centuries in the municipality of Prepotto, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli region, near Slovenia. From 2008 Prepotto reached the reward as "sottozona" Schioppettino di Prepotto, the only area in Friuli to protect a native red variety.
